Two men hospitalized after Ann Arbor fraternity party turns violent
The Ann Arbor Police Department is investigating a fraternity party after a fight broke out early Monday morning, leaving two men hospitalized.
Detective Sgt. Brian Jatczak said a group of four or five people got violent around 12:30 a.m. after being denied entrance into a house party in the 1100 block of Church Street.
Jatczak said some of the men who were denied entrance started throwing punches and hitting people with a shovel. He said none of the attackers were University of Michigan students and didn't know anyone at the party.
The Michigan Daily reports that one victim received three staples in his head and suffered a broken nose as a result of the attack. The paper says the other victim who was hospitalized received stitches after being hit in the face with a shovel.
Jatczak said police stopped and questioned two young men later that night believed to be involved in the fighting. The men, 18 and 19, are Ann Arbor residents.
Jatczak said the men were released but will be undergo further questioning and investigation.
