Two men seriously injured in crash this morning in Pittsfield Township

By Lee Higgins

A two-vehicle collision this morning left one man critically injured and another seriously injured, Pittsfield Township fire officials said.

About 7:05 a.m., a minivan and car collided in the 4800 block of Carpenter Road, leaving both drivers injured, Fire Capt. Jeff Foulke said.

Firefighters extricated the driver of the car from the passenger side about 7:20 a.m. and he was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition. The driver of the minivan was taken by ambulance to University of Michigan Hospital, where he is in serious condition, Fire Chief Sean Gleason said.

Gleason did not know whether the men were wearing seat belts. The road has been closed in both directions as police officers are on scene investigating.
