Two motor scooter riders in hospital after collision with a car in Ann Arbor

Slick road conditions were likely the cause of a collision between a motor scooter and a car tonight that has left the motor scooter riders in the hospital, Ann Arbor Police Lt. Angella Abrams said.

Around 8 p.m. tonight, a motor scooter carrying two people and a Dodge Intrepid collided at the intersection of Packard Street and East University, she said.

Two motor scooter passengers, who were wearing helmets at the time of the collision, were injured and are being treated at the University of Michigan Hospital. The injuries are not believed to be life threatening, Abrams said. The driver of the Intrepid was not injured.

“We suspect it was weather-related,” she said. “It was dark out and it had just started raining.”

I was wondering what was up when I was driving down Packard last night. I saw someone laying down in the middle of the road before the ambulance got there. I'm glad that everyone seems to be (relatively) OK.

We have a cause without vehicle placements and lane assignments. Someone failed to yield. Which vehicle was on Packard?
