Two other men charged in arson and pipe bombing at Pleasant Lake Inn

By Lee Higgins

Two additional men have been charged in a pipe bombing and arson at a Freedom Township bar in September, Washtenaw County court records show.

Joshua Alan McClellan, 23, and Nicholas Casper Kraus, 21, both of Warren, are charged with two counts each of arson of a dwelling, arson of real property and placing an explosive near property causing damage.

Neither has been arraigned.

They and two brothers are accused of detonating a pipe bomb on Sept. 11 outside the Pleasant Lake Inn after setting fire to a hallway in the basement to distract customers, Michigan State Police said.

One of three apartments in the basement was occupied at the time and the bar had numerous people inside, but no one was injured, troopers said.

Police say the men were at the bar on orders to retaliate against an employee who reportedly owed one of their associates money.

Joshua Hafner-Canter, 19, of Manchester, and his brother, Joseph Allen Hafner-Canter, 20, of Saline, were recently taken into custody after being charged in the case.

At least two other men could face charges, court documents say.
