Two Ypsilanti High School students remain suspended after gun incident last month
Two 15-year-old Ypsilanti High School students remain suspended after a gun was seized from one of them at the school on April 30, school officials said.
The gun was real, but had been deliberately altered so it didn't work, authorities said.
A male student transferred the gun to a female student, Ypsilanti Public Schools spokeswoman Emma Jackson said. Another student saw the exchange and reported it, Jackson said.
The female student awaits an expulsion hearing, and the male student was given a 45-day suspension, Jackson said. He will likely attend another school in the fall, Jackson said.
Washtenaw County sheriff’s spokesman Derrick Jackson said the gun was seized that day, but no charges have been filed.

I believe you are correct,Catherine. Why aren't both of these kids expelled?

Am I reading this correctly? Student A brings the gun to school. Student A passes off the gun to Student B. Student B is recommended for a expulsion and Student A gets 45 days. Why aren't they both being recommended for expulsion. Did the gun not become a problem until Student B received it? Did the State weapons law change?

I'm pretty sure there's also something in Ypsi High's student handbook that says anything involving a gun is expulsion.

BUT BUT there's a law: 1) against minors in possesion of guns 2) guns on school property Does this mean laws don't work on those who are not law abiding???? WOW!
