U-M and NanoBio researchers find possible burn wound treatment in nanotechnology lotion
Ann Arbor researchers believe they may have found an improved way of treating burn wounds using a lotion made with nanotechnology in preclinical studies.
In animal studies, researchers from NanoBio Corp. and the University of Michigan found using the lotion reduced the severity of burn wound infection and inflammation.
The nanotechnology being used in the lotion is NanaBio’s NanoStat, which uses high-energy, oil-in-water emulsion droplets manufactured at sizes between 200 and 600 nanometers.
The collaboration is set to present its findings at the 2009 Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy in California.
