University of Michigan engineering dean raps a year-end review
University of Michigan engineering dean David Munson put together an unusual holiday greeting for students and alumni.
Instead of the traditional email or card, Munson helped write and execute a "rap in review" video greeting. In the video Munson rapped about the engineering school's undertakings, including U-M's new M-Cubed research funding model and the school's solar car team.
"We've been busy as the elves here at the college, as you know the gifts we offer center on knowledge," the dean sang, rapping that the engineering college educated 5,000 undergraduates and 3,000 graduate students this year.
"We're sending out our wish for Michigan engineers. Happy holidays to all and a bright new year," rapped Munson, an electrical engineer who has served as dean of the college since 2006.

That was great Dean Munson. My dad graduated from the Engineering School in 1939, and would have loved your rap. I am sure the students appreciate your "keeping up with the times."

Nice to see Dave having serious fun. He is an exemplary leader who has enriched the lives of everyone in the College of Engineering and sets a wonderfully high standard of engagement with students. Thanks for the rap, Dave but do keep your day job.
