University of Michigan students create flash mob graduation video

By Cindy Heflin

Students dressed in caps and gowns at the University of Michigan made a flash mob video Thursday that's now posted on YouTube. The performance was coordinated by students and sponsored by online graduation announcement company GoEnnounce.com.

About 70 students danced to Rusted Roots' "Send me on my way," GoEnnounce said in an e-mail. Students filed out of the graduate library and then were joined by other groups of students from surrounding buildings. The march ended in front of the chemistry building. About 300 students watched, GoEnnounce said.

The performance was choreographed by Erik Heitz, a musical theater major.

Graduation is a celebration of their years of intensive and hard work! This is the beginning of the rest of their lives. Why not celebrate? I'm glad they find this a joyous occasion in these dark economic times. Good luck to them all?

Get a grip people! Its some kids having fun at nobodies expense. My wife and I in our 60's thoroughly enjoyed watching the video! There are enough heavy moments in everyone's life to last two lifetimes!

Egad. I hope the Glee craze has not infected this part of the country.

For a $100,000 plus education, let's hope they can do something good!

Be real..It took more planning than 3 minutes to do the choreography plan alone..

Really? Looks like kids having three minutes of fun...doesn't really mean they aren't studying and bettering themselves, does it?

Yea because they should be working 100% of the time and never have fun like the 'dults do.

Maybe the students could follow this up by passing the recall petitions up and down their rows while Heir Snyder rants away at their commencement. This is great to see nevertheless.

I love the flash mob videos! So cool they did this. I imagine it takes a lot of planning and choreography to pull these off. Good for them.
