Vehicle hits man in wheelchair in Pittsfield Township

A man in a wheelchair was injured this afternoon after being struck by a vehicle in the 3400 block of Carpenter Road, Pittsfield Township Fire Cmdr. Sean Gleason said.

The accident occurred at about 2:10 p.m., and the man was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, Gleason said.

Police officers are on the scene, Gleason said.

Police said the 52-year-old Pittsfield Township man was being pushed in his wheelchair by his caregiver across Carpenter Road near Center Valley Drive when he was struck.

There needs to be a crosswalk in front of Carpenter place apartments. The man who was struck by the minivan is my brother who has c.p. He is very sore but recoving. He has 15 stiches and lots of abrasions and road burns. Thank you to all who helped on the scene, Davids sister
