A verdict is likely Friday in the trial of a man accused of bludgeoning his 17-year-old girlfriend outside an Ypsilanti park in January 2009.

Dominic Oyerinde has been on trial this week in the death of 17-year-old Anna List.

The bench trial before Judge Archie Brown stopped for the day around noon today. Brown said he expected to render a verdict after tomorrow morning's closing arguments.

Police say Oyerinde hit List over the head with a hammer twice on Jan. 13, 2009, outside Ypsilanti's Recreation Park, then fled in her car to a relative's home in Detroit. Authorities arrested him there less than 24 hours later.

List, who was a senior at Ann Arbor's Huron High School, died after being in a coma for a week.

Oyerinde, 21, chose a bench trial over a jury trial.

He faces charges of open murder and carjacking.
