Washtenaw County members of search and rescue team helped save Dundee tornado victim
Washtenaw County members of a new Urban Search and Rescue Task Force helped rescue a woman in Dundee after a tornado ripped through the area in the early morning hours of June 6, the Detroit Free Press reported.
The task force was introduced to the public Thursday at Oakland International Airport in Waterford. The team, made up of firefighters, doctors, emergency medical personnel, heavy equipment operators and search dog handlers, can be activated whenever a disaster, such as a tornado, earthquake or bomb, brings down a building.
Funding comes mainly from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
