As Washtenaw County Road Commission plans for 2012 road work come together, here are six projects throughout the county that motorists will encounter this summer.
The projects will make $1.333 million in improvements to 10.48 miles of county roads through an overlay program that utilizes funding from federal sources.

Roads to see hot mix asphalt overlays are:
- Clark Road from Golfside to Hewitt roads
- Huron River Drive from Clark road to 2,110 feet north of Clark Road
- Dexter-Pinckney Road from 600 feet north of North Territorial Road to the county line
- Platt Road from Michigan Avenue to Ellsworth Road
- Austin Road from 1,580 feet east of Grass Road to Dell Road
- Dexter-Chelsea Road from Freer to Dancer roads
These projects are expected to be bid through the Michigan Department of Transportation in April, and construction is expected to take place from June through August with temporary lane closures.

Are these currently dirt roads becoming paved with asphalt or are these already paved roads just getting resurfaced?

So, next summer, Ann Arbor is going to repair Packard from Platt to the US-23 bridge AND Washtenaw County is going to repair Platt from Ellsworth to Michigan? Do they ever talk to each other?

I am surprised to see that stretch of Platt Road on the list. It has very few potholes or issues that would require re-paving. Would rather see the $$ go towards other roads with more wear and tear - parts of Carpenter, for example, especially the curblane southbound between Washtenaw and Packard!

I don't think the southbound curblane on Carpenter (between Packard and Washtenaw) qualifies as a "road" any longer. It's more like a "rubble heap." By the way, I believe the northbound curblane along the same stretch is equally as bad, although I literally have banned myself from using that stretch about two years ago, so I'm not as familiar anymore. I've actually had to qualify certain roads as "undrivable" on my mental roadmap, in the best interest of my automobile, and the routes I now take as a matter of habit have been shaped by roads in awful shape.

Last year the Road Commission "forgot" a little more than a mile of North Territorial from Webster-Church Road to west of Donovan Road. That stretch is in FAR worse shape that Dexter-Pinckney from Territorial north.

That's exactly what I was going to say too. How do you just let that stretch go? There's so much traffic on N. Territorial and especially in the summer time. While they're at it they should run Scully Rd. through to Strawberry Lake Rd and pave it. :D

And Ann Arbor Saline Road over 94 continues to look like a war zone where land mines have destroyed the road. Must not be a priority due to the low volume of cars traveling on that roadway. Yeah right!

Be careful when driving through construction zones. Road workers count on the safe driving of motorists.
