Washtenaw County sheriff's sergeant among Milan police chief finalists

By Cindy Heflin

Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Sgt. Dave Egeler is one of two finalists for the Milan police chief's job, the Milan News-Leader reported.

The other finalist is Troy police Capt. Gerry S. Scherlinck. Patricia Nowak of East Lansing was a third finalist, but she withdrew after finding another job, City Council member Martha Churchhill told the newspaper.

A panel of citizens was interviewing the finalists, and a board of local police officials was to interview them as well before the city selects its next chief, the newspaper reported.

Former Police Chief Jeff Lewis left his job in January to head the police department in Muskegon.
