The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for much of Southeast Michigan, including Washtenaw County, until 10 p.m.
The weather service says storms are expected to develop later today and may be capable of producing wind gusts up to 70 mph and hail. Some storms may move repeatedly over the same area.
As the storms move in, humidity is expected to increase, with heat indexes around 95 degrees, the weather service said.
