Washtenaw Intermediate School District's 'Sock Hop Drive' seeks new clothes for homeless kids, needy
A new pair of socks may not be a big deal to you, but it means a whole to a child in need.
The Washtenaw Intermediate School District’s Education Project is seeking of donations of new socks and underwear for its annual Sock Hop Drive to help such children. The drive aims to provide the new items for children who are homeless or living in temporary situations in Washtenaw County.
“These donations do more than meet basic needs for families with very few resources,” according to project coordinator Peri Stone-Palmquist.
“When students are given new packages of socks and underwear, they know someone cares. It provides a little light in a dark time.”
From now until the end of February, the Education Project will be collecting new, unopened packages of underwear and socks at the following locations:
• Washtenaw Intermediate School District’s Teaching and Learning Center
• Mast Shoes
• Morgan & York Fine Wine's and Specialty Foods
