The Washtenaw Intermediate School District has selected six candidates to interview next week for the open superintendent position, including five from Michigan.

The candidates and their interview times are as follows:

  • Scott Menzel, superintendent of the Livingston Educational Service Agency, who will be interviewed at 6:30 p.m. Monday.
  • Beverly Knox-Pipes, assistant superintendent for technology and media services for the Genesee Intermediate School District, who will be interviewed at 8 p.m. Monday.
  • David Campbell, superintendent of the Olivet Community Schools, who will be interviewed at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
  • Thomas Langdon, superintendent of Big Rapids Public Schools, who will be interviewed at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
  • Christine Beardsley, superintendent of Oscoda Area Schools, who will be interviewed at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
  • Thomas Goodney, deputy superintendent and chief of staff at the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio, who will be interviewed at 6:30 p.m. on March 29.

All interviews will take place at the WISD building, located at 1819 Wagner Road and all interviews are open to the public.

The WISD school board is selecting a new superintendent to succeed Bill Miller, who retired from the position at the end of 2010. He had served 12 years as superintendent of the WISD.

Richard Leyshock has been serving as interim superintendent since January and has removed himself from consideration for the permanent position.

Just what we need... another educational superintendent supported by the tax-payers. How come we have one governor to run the entire state, but we need all these local and intermediate school district superintendents to run schools in one county?
