Water main break disrupts traffic on Packard Road on Ann Arbor's east side
Update: At 3 p.m., city officials said the water main had been fixed.
A water main break is currently disrupting traffic on Packard Road between Fernwood and US-23 on Ann Arbor's east side, city officials said at 8:30 a.m.
The break occurred on Packard at Cherry Tree Lane. An employee with the city's field operations division said crews are currently on the site working to repair it.
An estimated time for completing the repairs is not yet available, but traffic is expected to be impacted most of the day, city spokeswoman Lisa Wondrash said in a press release.
Wondrash said the city is not aware of any water outages, but it's possible residents in the area may experience discolored water.
The eastbound lanes of Packard are most affected, Wondrash said in the e-mail.
Residents in the area who have questions, can call 734-794-6350 or check the city's website for updates.

I just went down Packard road and they've cleaned it up. The very right lane (Coming from the highway) is closed. Aside from that, everything was dandy. Feel sorry for the smart guy who got his Mini Cooper stuck in the *middle* of the water.

The last water main break on Packard at Marlborough a few weeks ago left us with a really rough section of paving on outbound Packard that the city has either forgotten about or can't afford to fix properly. Let's hope they're going to do better on the restoration work for the pavement at this latest infrastructure failure site.
