Westbound East Stadium Blvd. will be down to one lane at Ferdon Road until Friday evening while city fixes a broken pipe in the sanitary sewer on Ferdon.

Project foreman Kevin Ernst said the cause of the break was unknown, but that the pipes are 50 to 60 years old and do experience some wear and tear.

“We have a video inspection process that identifies most problems before they become an emergency,” Ernst said. “Something like this is rare and isolated. It’s nothing that’s going to be a standard thing.”

Ernst said that while the pipe break itself is on Ferdon, it’s close enough to the corner with Stadium that the lane had to be closed to traffic for the safety of the workers.

No service interruptions affected nearby residents, officials said.

Sounds like if we want to use eastbound Stadium Boulevard from Brockman or St. Francis, in order to get to Trader Joe's, we still can; I like driving through Medford, Manchester and Colony to get from Stadium to Packard instead of facing traffic signals. But I've used Ferdon, too. Just not used to hearing of water main breaks right in residential areas instead of business areas.

Larry, Thanks for the comment. That was changed during editing, and we're making the headline change now.

The headline and the body of the article are contradictory. If the body of the article is correct, the headline should read " Westbound East Stadium is reduced to one westbound lane through Friday after sanitary sewer main break." As it currently reads the headline informs us that only 1 of 4 lanes on East Stadium will be operational. The body of the article indicates that 3 lanes will be operational.
