Westbound M-14 closed in Ann Arbor after crash

By Cindy Heflin

Two people were taken by ambulance to the University of Michigan Hospital after a crash involving a motorcycle on westbound M-14 on the northwest side of Ann Arbor Sunday afternoon.

Huron Valley Ambulance spokeswoman Joyce Williams said both were in unstable condition at the time of transport.

Williams said the crash occurred between Miller Avenue and Interstate 94. The westbound lanes of the freeway were shut down between Maple Road and I-94 for more than an hour after the crash, which Williams said was reported at 4:02 p.m. The highway was reopened by 6:05 p.m.

A dispatcher with the Sheriff’s Office said she could provide no information about how many vehicles were involved in the crash.

Further information was not immediately available.

How is the cell phone article related? I mean, it is related, but in a very general sense without further information. Perhaps it is totally related. Do you know something that you are not telling us?

Just drove by - there's a motorcycle on the side of the road and police are turning traffic around. Hope everyone's okay.

Saw a big truck on the left on the left shoulder. It did not seem to have anything to do with the problem. There was a wrecker under or just west of the Wagner Rd- M-14 bridge, but I did not see any vehicles. A firetruck was near the turn around just east of the Dexter Rd. bridge over M-14. A motorcycle makes sense. Perhaps it was already picked up or I did not see it.

There were probably motorcyclists out all over town today, north and south of the Huron River, on the east side of town, too. The second one I saw waited for me to pass before turning around, but this was done OFF any freeway, so it was a safe area to turn around in. From the pin, I guessed that someone missed his or her exit. Hope this motorcyclist was NOT bare-headed or wearing the least-protective kind of helmet.
