By AnnArbor.com Staff

Whitmore Lake High School students traveled to the Motor City to step abord the Detroit Princess riverboat for their 2013 prom Saturday night, May 11. Senior student Kelley O' Neill captured these images as they sailed along the Detroit River.

I think Whitmore Lake has a smaller class size then does AAPS. This would never fly in Ann Arbor. Although it did before Willow Run went broke and kept their proms at home. I think the last time WR did theirs on a boat was 20 years ago. What a night that must have been.

I guess all the WLPS parents who were having a cow last fall about how terrible an idea this was, and how dangerous it would be, etc., got over it...

I agree with the other posters - I think this was an excellent idea! What were parents worried about and what was supposed to be so dangerous? Seems as though some will always find something to complain about. Shows you how closed minded some people can be. Kudos to those in charge for providing a unique venue for the students.
