Whitmore Lake High School Top Scholars

Whitmore Lake High School will hold its 2013 graduation ceremonies Sunday, June 2, 2 p.m. at Whitmore Lake High School. The class will include approximately 92 graduates.

Melissa Ann Dreffs
Parents: Marty & Cindy Dreffs
Activities and Awards: Melissa was a student council representative her freshman year. Melissa has been a member of the National Honor Society for 3 years; serving as President her senior year. Melissa has been a member of the Key Club for 4 years; serving as Vice-President her junior year and President her senior year. Melissa has been a part of the yearbook committee for 3 years; serving as a section editor her senior year. Melissa has played four years on the girls’ basketball team. She has played 3 of the 4 years on the varsity team, serving as co-captain for both her junior and senior years. Melissa has received the TCC Sportsmanship Award and the TCC Scholarship Award for her 3 years on the varsity team along with the TCC All-Conference Honorable Mention Award her senior year. Melissa has taken every Honors or AP class offered at her school. Melissa attended the American Legion Auxiliary Girls State program in the summer between her junior and senior year as well as the Key Leader programs her sophomore and senior year. Melissa has contributed more than 200 community service hours during her high school career. Many of these hours have been shared amongst her involvement in Key Club, National Honor Society and Basketball. Some of her most memorable community services moments include delivering Christmas cards to veterans at the V.A. Hospital in Ann Arbor, reading to and doing crafts with kindergarteners, cooking meals for the residents of the Ronald McDonald House at the University of Michigan Medical Center and packaging food for Kids Against Hunger.
Plans After Graduation: Melissa will be attending the Eastern Michigan University Honors College. Her career plans are still undecided.

Sara Elizabeth Head
Parents: Holly Hinson, Robert Head
Activities and Awards: Sara has been an active member of the WLHS Drama Club during her high school career, serving as its president for her junior and senior year. She also has performed in various local and regional theatre companies. Her love of the performing arts also spread into her church activities and she has a served as a member and leader of the Chilson Hills Agape Theatre troupe for many years. Academically, Sara is an avid student who will be graduating with honors. She has been in the Whitmore Lake chapter of the National Honor Society since her sophomore year, and acted as its president during the 2012-2013 school year. She has also been honored with student ambassador opportunities on various occasions throughout her academic career, attending a People to People World Leadership forum, among others.
Plans After Graduation: Sara will be attending the University of Michigan in the fall, and has not yet declared a major.

Briana Lennox
Parents: Chris and Angie Lennox
Activities and Awards: Briana has been a member of Key Club all four years of high school. She was vice president her sophomore year and president her junior year. She has been a member of National Honor Society since her junior year. Briana was a two year member of the Whitmore Lake High School Girls Powerlifting Team. She has won two presidential awards during her academic career, as well as three gold medals for academic excellence.
Plans After Graduation: Briana will be attending the School of Nursing at the University of Michigan.

Abigail Zielke
Parents: Al and Jamee Zielke
Activities and Awards: Abby was a four-year member of the Drama Club and the Varsity Quiz Bowl Team. She danced ballet for twelve years. She was a member of the National Honors Society.
Plans After Graduation: Abby will be attending the University of Michigan majoring in History and Political Science.
