Wife accused of stabbing husband in their Pittsfield Township home
Updated with information on the man's condition.
Pittsfield Township police arrested a 49-year-old woman accused of stabbing her husband in the shoulder during a dispute at their home Wednesday night.
Detective Lt. Sean McCormick said the man, who lives in the 2400 block of Hawks Drive in the Oak Park subdivision, walked to a nearby business with a stab wound in his left shoulder at about 8:45 p.m. An employee at the business called police.
The 59-year-old man suffered a non life-threatening injury, McCormick said. He was taken to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for treatment.
Police said they learned the wife apparently stabbed him during a dispute. They would not tell police what they were arguing about, McCormick said.
Police are seeking charges of felonious assault and assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder against the woman.
Police are investigating whether the couple has been involved in previous domestic violence incidents, McCormick said.

@beard - Your right. It is disappointing the Pittsfield's police dept. didn't have an officer stationed in this couple's home to prevent this incident from happening. They should probably have an officer stationed in everyone's house 24/7 to prevent such incidents from ever occurring. Are you for real???

A police force cannot prevent this type of incident, even a very large force would still have a 5 - 30 minute response time at best. People are largely responsible for their own self defense. "When seconds count, the Police are only minutes away"

What is happening in Pittsfield Township?? I know it's never been the bastion of safety, but it seems like there has been a steep increase in crimes like this in the past year or so. Maybe there's something in the water.
