Willow Run, Washtenaw Community College to partner
Willow Run school officials are hoping a new summer partnership with Washtenaw Community College is the start of bigger things.
Board Trustee Clifford Smith also suggested the Willow Run middle and high school complex could one day be used to house an eastern campus of the community college.
“I’m glad we’re starting with this program,” he said. “It would be great to see it expand, so our students can get more options.”
The program running this summer is aimed at adults who need their GED and also want to go onto college. The Willow Run board officially approved the partnership at its board meeting on Thursday.
The program preps adults for the GED test and then works to get them ready for college, including having a college counselor come and work them on site, said Anne Greashaber of WCC.
The program is slated to start on May 25 and run on for three hours on Tuesday and Thursday nights. The program wraps up on Aug. 5.
Greashaber said Willow Run’s location makes it attractive to the school, which is overcrowded on its main campus. She said the college also hopes to use this a pilot program as it thinks about other, bigger partnerships with Willow Run.

How ironic, WR students can drop out of high school and come back for their GED. WR school board is smart to do this before the state takes over. Hopefully soon.
