Woman apprehended after shooting male relative in Dexter Township

By Lee Higgins

A woman was taken into custody tonight in Livingston County - about two hours after she reportedly shot a male relative in the leg at a Dexter Township home after an argument, authorities said.

The man suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the incident in the 6300 block of Brand Road, said Derrick Jackson, director of community engagement for the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office.

The victim's wife reported the shooting about 7:30 p.m.

It's unclear if the shotgun used has been recovered.

The alleged shooter, who drove away, was apprehended about 9:20 p.m. and will be taken to Washtenaw County jail, Jackson said.

Her name has not been released because she has not been charged. No further details were available.
