Woman who fails to pay cab fare arrested in Ann Arbor

An Ypsilanti Township woman was jailed Wednesday after she failed to pay a cab fare, and officers discovered she had five outstanding warrants, an Ann Arbor police report said.

The 45-year-old woman took a cab from the 2500 block of East Michigan Avenue in Ypsilanti to the 200 block of South Seventh Street in Ann Arbor at about 11 a.m., the report said.

She got out of the cab, police say, promised to get money from her daughter and then ultimately told the driver she couldn't pay the fare.

The woman had five outstanding warrants, including a felony warrant, and was taken to the Washtenaw County Jail.

Police did not have specifics on the warrants today.

As a former taxicab driver I sympathize with the poor driver who had to drive this scumbag 15 or so miles, burn a gallon of gas he or she had to pay for, and spend 30 or so minutes driving to not make a single red cent. Had it happen to me a couple of times and it sucks. You feel like someone has stolen from you. What a lousy thing to do to somebody.

I don't believe anyone can stand in judgment of this woman. We don't have all of the facts.

I don't think anyone is standing in judgement...unless enlisted as a juror in an upcoming trial based on any one of the warrants for her arrest...this said...if it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, and commits crimes like a duck..it's a duck!
