Finally, someone else aside from myself who sees all the mistakes the reporters make in their stories. As "professionals" these people should have gone to school to learn their craft. Journalism 101 teaches AP style, grammar and how to write a headline. As someone who has gone through these classes and is not a perfect writer, I find it extremely lazy for the reporters to not have their articles proofed. Accuracy counts for everything in the world of journalism. If a news source constantly puts out sloppy work, whether the facts are straight or not, eventually they begin to lose credibility and go the way of supermarket tabloids. As a reader, you should expect more of the news source since it represents your town. The A2 news was already considered a biased, joke of newspaper and now AnnAbor.com is has a chance to shake that reputation and they don't seem to care.

Prompt reporting over accuracy? I want both, and it really isn't too much to ask for. I am by no means someone who considers themselves a good writer (very far from it). But I do believe that if a little more proof reading were to happen that this new paper would gain allot more credibility. Of course I expect some bumps for the first few months; but remember the reporters here are paid professionals. It has never been a good idea to sacrifice accuracy in news reporting. I am sure that the editors here would agree.

I'm with Dakota on this one. Nothing more irritating than the perfectionists on this site. I most definitely prefer prompt reporting and timely news over 100% accuracy. If it means waiting until later in the day, or perhaps the next day, to get it "grammatically correct" for some folks, then it is already old news. Get a grip folks. Thank you AA.com for some of the most timely reporting we have ever seen in this town.

ok mr. I'm perfect and you're not....geez.... Why can't people just get a grip with the fact that we're ALL human...yes, it's their job... However, you want the news, you want it immediately and then get picky if they try to get it out fast and make a typo or don't use the grammar you think they should.....Sorry I'm picking on you - but I'm so tired of reading these types of comments.....

You were doing pretty good for a while, now it's back. How about; State police report, woman hospitalized after vehicle strikes tree at I-94 and US-23. Get out of the "police say" mentality. Looks very incompetent. J FRY
