Woman injured attempting to stop assault, Ypsilanti police say

A 27-year-old woman said she was injured when she tried to intervene to stop a man from assaulting her friend Sunday, according to Ypsilanti police.

The incident occurred at 11:30 p.m. in the 600 block of Armstrong, a police incident log said.

Officers spoke to the woman when she sought treatment at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. She said a man she knows was assaulting her friend, and she attempted to stop him and was injured, reports said.

The woman was treated and released for unspecified injuries.

Police have not made any arrests, but said the investigation is continuing.

No further details were released.

Without knowing more specifics nor being a witness, we cannot make this jusgement. Considering all parties knew each other, I'd have to say call the Police and the liberal applications of pepper spray or vice-versa might actually have been more appropriate.
