Ypsilanti man crashes plane near Traverse City
WWJ radio reports that a 54-year-old Ypsilanti man is recovering after his small plane crashed near Traverse City.
Authorities said that the Cessna 337 experienced engine trouble just after takeoff in Benzie County Friday afternoon, the radio station reported.
Benzie County Sheriff Rory Heckman told WWJ the plane was flying about 35 or 40 feet above the ground when it clipped several pine trees before going down in Crystal Lake Township, about 120 miles north-northwest of Grand Rapids.
The man was airlifted to a Grand Rapids hospital with burns and internal injuries but is expected to recover, WWJ reported.
The man's name was not released.

Is it just me or does the wording "man crashes plane" make it sound like it was intentional? I'm assuming it wasn't intentional, but hey, you never know!
