Ypsilanti police arrest 'person of interest' in sexual assault, break-in
Ypsilanti police arrested a man considered to be a person of interest in a sexual assault and home invasion this morning.
Police say the man is under investigation for both this morning's incident and other home invasions. No further details were provided.
A 22-year-old Eastern Michigan University student told police she awoke at 10:30 a.m. to find a stranger in her residence in the 600 block of West Cross Street. The woman said the man sexually assaulted her at knifepoint, police said.
Officers arrested a man in the area on unrelated charges, and he's being questioned in the incident, police said. The man will remain in custody as the investigation continues, according to a police press release.
The attacker was described as black, 6 feet tall, 180 pounds, in his late 20s or early 30s. He was wearing a white tank top and white T-shirt.
