Ypsilanti police find four-year-old in charge of younger siblings
When an Ypsilanti police officer responded to a tip about children left alone in an apartment on Friday, a four-year-old girl was found in charge of two toddlers and an infant while the mother was at work and the father ran an errand.
Questioning the father when he returned home to the apartment on Monroe Street, the officer learned he had gone to a gas station down the street.
The officer was told that the oldest daughter was “more than capable of watching the children for that short period of time," according to reports.
A security guard at the family's apartment complex reported that the kids were alone for approximately 10 minutes when he called police at about 5:05 p.m.
The officer observed that the children appeared to be clean and healthy, but the Children’s Protective Services division of the Department of Human Services is being notified about the incident.

Something tells me that security guard is going to be looking over his shoulder for a looooong time if he's still working at that complex. Not defending what the father did...but I can see how he might react to finding out the security guard is responsible for the police being called.

Well, If that little 4 year old is more than capable of watching the children for that short period of time," then why in the world isn't she out working for a living...seriously, why leave the other kids in her care when she could be working at a drive-thru somewhere...oh wait...yeah...that's right SHE'S A BABY HERSELF!Ther kids and apartment seemed to appear clean, the 4 year old probably does the housekeeping...and she doesn't have ID so she couldn't walk to the gas station and get daddy's smokes and that's why she was left in charge! Brilliant! People should not be allowed to have kids unless they can pass a simple common sense question test...take all the kids away until the parents can prove they're capable qualified child rearing adults...
