Ypsilanti Township boy accused of assaulting homeowner, stealing gun
A 16-year-old boy is facing three felony charges after police say he broke into an Ypsilanti Township home, assaulted the homeowner and stole a gun on Monday.
Washtenaw County Sheriff's officials said the boy will be tried as an adult, but his name was not released today.
Deputies were called to the 700 block of Eugene Street Monday, where a resident returned home and found an intruder in his house, reports said. The burglar assaulted the homeowner and fled with a handgun, according to police.
The homeowner called 911 and provided a description of the intruder. A deputy patrolling the area stopped a teenager matching the description and found the stolen handgun on him, reports said.
The 16-year-old was charged with armed robbery, first-degree home invasion and carrying a concealed weapon.
A second person is wanted for questioning, according to a police press release. No further information on that suspect was released.
Anyone with information on the incident should call the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s confidential tip line at 734-973-7711 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP.

And btw people with carry permits such as myself, if we're awake then we are carrying. The logic of denying law abiding citizens something because criminals might get a hold of them, well apply that to cars why don't you? Drunks, joy riders, chops shops, etc might as well give up your car now.

This is what happens to most legally owned hand guns. The owner is lucky he wasn't shot with his own gun. People that have a carry permit don't carry 24/7. Hand guns are like Pit Bulls; a bad idea.

Granted, the homeowner should not have had the weapon accessible, if he wasn't carrying...but try that in my home and any wannabe thugster home invade will only leave with a projectile from my weapon, not the weapon....

Anyone his age with morals like his deserves at least 5 years to think about turning his life around and quit being a punky little gangster.
