A 16-year-old boy is facing three felony charges after police say he broke into an Ypsilanti Township home, assaulted the homeowner and stole a gun on Monday.

Washtenaw County Sheriff's officials said the boy will be tried as an adult, but his name was not released today.

Deputies were called to the 700 block of Eugene Street Monday, where a resident returned home and found an intruder in his house, reports said. The burglar assaulted the homeowner and fled with a handgun, according to police.

The homeowner called 911 and provided a description of the intruder. A deputy patrolling the area stopped a teenager matching the description and found the stolen handgun on him, reports said.

The 16-year-old was charged with armed robbery, first-degree home invasion and carrying a concealed weapon.

A second person is wanted for questioning, according to a police press release. No further information on that suspect was released.
