Ypsilanti Township man charged with possessing child pornography

By Lee Higgins

An Ypsilanti Township man is accused of possessing and soliciting child pornography, Washtenaw County court records show.

Charles Robert Clemons, 54, is charged with using a computer to commit a crime and three counts of possessing child sexually abusive material, records show.

Clemons was arraigned Wednesday and released on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond, documents say.

His attorney, Ronald Gold, could not immediately be reached for comment this afternoon.

U.S. Postal Inspector Wylie Christopher, who is based in Detroit, declined to comment on the case this morning, citing an ongoing investigation.

According to records, some of the alleged illegal activity occurred April 7 at Clemons' home on South Grove Street. Clemons is scheduled to return to court Nov. 4 for a preliminary hearing.

If convicted, Clemons faces up to four years in prison on each count of possessing child sexually abusive material. Using a computer to commit a crime is punishable by up to seven years in prison upon conviction, records show.

I just want to be sure -- I have some Miley Cyrus posters. Should I get rid of them? I don't want to be in the same boat as this guy.

"U.S. Postal Inspector Wylie Christopher, who is based in Detroit, declined to comment on the case this morning, citing an ongoing investigation" "Charles Robert Clemons, 54, is charged with using a computer to commit a crime and three counts of possessing child sexually abusive material, records show" Am I missing something? How is the Postal Inspector involved? Was something mailed to/from his Grove St address? Was he a Postal worker?
