Ypsilanti Township teenager still missing, police say she left note saying she'd be "fine"
Ypsilanti Township teenager Erica Kennedy is still missing after last being seen Saturday night, and her family is asking for any leads anyone might have about where she is.
The 17-year-old girl was last seen with a backpack getting into a small blue pickup truck, and her family suspects she's with a man she met over the Internet. One of Kennedy’s friends later told her family a man she’s been talking to over the Internet had given her a cell phone a few months ago.
Detective Tom Boivin from the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department said there's nothing to suggest she's endangered.
He said the department is taking the case seriously, and is sending out public service messages via email to get the word out.
Kennedy left a note for her mother saying she'd be fine and that she'd call in a few days, Boivin said.
Because she is 17 years old, she is considered missing and not a runaway, he said.
There is a Facebook group to get word out about Kennedy's disappearance.
Anyone with information about Kennedy’s whereabouts should contact the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department at 734-973-4555.

Erica is only a child. She would never let her mother and family worry like that. I hope and pray she is brought safely back home.

Yes, because she's 17 and clearly she can't take care of herself at all.
