Cash register damaged during break-in at Gabriel's Hoagies

By Kyle Feldscher

A cash register at an Ypsilanti Township restaurant was discovered damaged after a break-in Monday morning, but it appears nothing was stolen, deputies said.

Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a burglary alarm to Gabriel’s Hoagies, 2585 E. Michigan Ave., at 5 a.m. Monday after being notified of a burglary alarm.

Deputies said a rear door to the business was forced open and a cash register was damaged but not opened. It appears nothing was stolen from the business.

There was no suspect information to release Monday and deputies continue to investigate.

Anyone with information on this incident is encouraged to call the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office anonymous tip line at 734-973-7711 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800 SPEAK UP (773-2587).

The suspects ate there earlier in the day and were looking to get their money back.

@Tag, I like the idea of leaving the register empty and open.

The police probably don't have to look for to find the criminal(s).

I do hope that the criminal is found and charged. Some other businesses prevent their cash register from being damaged in a break-in by leaving it empty and open.
