Deputies investigate attempted break-in at Ypsilanti Township church

By Kyle Feldscher

A door was forced open at an Ypsilanti Township church Monday morning in an apparent attempted break-in but nothing was reported stolen, according to investigators.

The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office reported responding at 2 a.m. Monday to Word of Deliverance Church,1005 Midway St., after a burglary alarm went off. Investigators determined the suspect, or suspects, had forced a door to the church open.

Deputies believe the alarm scared off the intruder, or intruders, and nothing was reported missing.

County sheriff’s deputies have been investigating a string of burglaries at churches around Washtenaw County in recent weeks. It’s unclear at this point if the incidents are related.

Anyone with information on this break-in attempt is encouraged to call the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office anonymous tip line at 734-973-7711 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800 SPEAK UP (773-2587).
