Arson suspected in fire that damaged Ypsilanti Township home
Arson is suspected in a fire that caused about $85,000 damage to a home in Ypsilanti Township Monday afternoon.
Lt. David Crescio of the Ypsilanti Township Fire Department said no one was home when the fire broke out in the single-story house in the 1400 block of Nash Avenue, but a passer-by noticed smoke coming from the attic area of the home and called 911 about 12:20 p.m.
Upon arrival firefighters found smoke coming from the house with flames visible from a bedroom window in the rear of the house, Crescio said. Firefighters had the blaze under control by 12:41 p.m. and contained fire damage to the bedroom, but the house had smoke and heat damage throughout, he said. No one was injured in the blaze.
Ypsilanti Township Fire Capt. Vic Chevrette said investigators believe the fire was intentionally set. The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department reported that a lap top computer and a flat screen television were taken from the house. The Sheriff's Department will continue to investigate, Chevrette said.
The Washtenaw County Chapter of the Red Cross provided food and clothing assistance to the woman and five children who lived in the house.

Ypsilanti Township is large. Any chance of reporting the address, or at least a more general location?
