Fire victim identified as 18-year-old Ypsilanti woman
A woman killed in a fire on Dec. 13 in Ypsilanti Township has been identified as 18-year-old Mycara Ball of Ypsilanti, family members said today.
Family members said Ball died of smoke inhalation in the 11:53 p.m. blaze that gutted a two-story home in the 1200 block of Rambling Road.

Mycara Ball
Ball, who had five younger siblings, enjoyed spending time with her family, dancing and traveling, said her mother, 37-year-old Morrine Ball of Fort Wayne, Ind.
"Everyone just remembered her gorgeous smile," Ball said. "She was just so full of life. Always kept you laughing."
Mycara Ball grew up in Ypsilanti, but spent her middle and early high school years in Fort Wayne, family members said. She returned to Ypsilanti a couple of years ago, moving in with her grandmother, who was undergoing chemotherapy.
Last year, Mycara Ball went on a road trip with several friends around the country, her mother said. She planned to move to California early next year and go to college to pursue a career in physical therapy.
Her mother said it was her understanding a box caught fire on a stove that night, and her daughter's friend unsuccessfully attempted to extinguish the blaze.
Investigators said Ball and a friend were visiting the home, and the homeowner and her son weren't there when the fire started.
The Washtenaw County Medical Examiner's Office and county sheriff's department could not immediately be reached for comment this afternoon.
