Do you live in Ypsilanti and crave a late night snack from time to time?
Insomnia Cookies, the popular late-night cookie business, will open its fourth Michigan location Monday in Ypsilanti.
The business, at 733 W. Cross St., is located across from Eastern Michigan University's campus.
Renee Sarnecky, marketing manager for parent company Serve U Brands, said the location is exactly what the company looks for in terms of viable locations.
"It's kind of familiar territory," Sarnecky said. "We definitely wanted to get in the campuses in that area. We felt it would be a great location to open... We're really excited to come to the area."
The location will have about 10 employees, but Sarnecky said applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
Sarnecky said free cookie coupons will be given out during the grand opening week and all customers who present one can get a free cookie.
Insomnia already has an Ann Arbor location, at 1229 S. University Ave., in the former Yogo Bliss space. That location replaced the company’s food truck that operated near the U-M campus years ago.

Altogether, the business has about 29 locations across the country, with the bulk in college towns. Sarnecky said the business has plans to open more locations.
The store will serve freshly baked cookies, cookie cakes, brownies and milk. Delivery service will last until 3 a.m.
The building was purchased in 2011 for $350,000 by Ann Arbor’s O’Neal Construction, which also renovated the building.
The landmark Ypsilanti retail building has undergone a major transformation and now has a more modern look after Andrew O’Neal bought the former Campus Drugs building from the late Ted Tangalakis.

The irony of course being that if more people got out of the house and were on the streets in Ypsi, there would probably be a little less less petty crime. Deserted streets are the siren song of criminals.

This company had embarrassingly bad customer service back when they had the food truck. I question if it ever got any better with the static location though, because I've heard they have an INCREDIBLY high employee turnover rate. The repeated rude treatment was enough to keep me from ever going back.
