Look, there's no "polite and tactful" way to say this, so here goes : Leaving your vehicle unlocked is pretty much the same as willingly giving your valuables away. There was a vehicle theft the other day in which the doors were unlocked and the keys in the ignition. Might as well put a 'Well lookee here' sign on it as well. If it sounds like I'm blaming the victim, it is only because I AM. Folks really have to smarten up. Whether you live in A2, Ypsi, Saline or a gated community - Do not leave valuables in your vehicle. If you do, have the common sense to at least lock the darned thing, and tuck your valuables away out of immediate eye-shot of someone looking to score an easy one. Okay, I'm off my soapbax now.

And yet it keeps happening. I would love to think that we live in a world that is the happy utopia that people seem to think it is, where you can leave your house and car unlocked and no one ever thinks of ever committing a crime. But that's just not the reality. And criminals are happier for it.

Actually MajorPaul I'm in full agreement. Most newer cars today have electric locks so it's easier than ever.
