Great, Lincoln is interviewing 6 candidates and Willow Run is looking aw well. If we really want to save money why aren't we looking to consolidating superintendents? Saves a lot money and probably a teacher or two. Duplicating services is a waste of money. We are small enough that some services make sense to share. Let's do it ourselves before Governor Snyder does it for us.

Terrible idea. The job of Superintendent is huge. Massive. It would be completely impractical to "share" across Boards, Districts - each with different issues, priorities, communities, unions, policies, staffs, budgets, etc. Yes there are ways to consolidate services. Yes the Districts share many services today. No they don't produce the HUGE savings you might have been led to believe.

As a close follower of the district, I'm confident that the Board will make a thoughtful decision. 1bigbud, you must have some sort of ESP because I can't figure out how else you can identify the ethnicity of the candidates from names. As for the comment about not having qualified in house candidates, many of the administrators on staff at LCS are extremely competent and happy in their current roles. Standardized test scores (which, in my opinion, are a bunch of baloney) continue to rise; the school maintains and adds great academic options for high schoolers (IBA, dual enrollment with Cleary University, Early College Alliance program with EMU and that's only a few). The high school soccer team had a fantastic season last year,

Well said. Lincoln has indeed been on an upward trajectory. What the District needs now is someone who can sustain and build upon that. It would be a big loss if the Board selected someone from an equal or lower performing District.

Whoops I hit the send button a little too quickly. The golf team and girls softball team are also doing well. Get the facts before you make an assumption that because there is no in-house candidate under consideration that the existing administrators and teaching staff aren't respected for the job they are all doing, and with less money funding to boot.

Unlike AAPS, Lincoln is a district where an effective superintendent could actually be worth a quarter of a million dollars. It is sad that Lincoln has not a single employee worthy of consideration for the job.

The list looks like it contains some good candidates. What is the pay range in Lincoln Consolidated Schools?

The Superintendent contract is in the public domain. I'm sure there's an AA News article somewhere about County salaries where you can look it up, but benefits can often mask the true salary - so the contract is the best source. I believe Lincoln is somewhere in the middle or low end as far as Super salaries go.
