The 21-year-old Ypsilanti Township man accused of beating and stabbing his girlfriend, as well as running her over with a car, pleaded guilty to three charges in the Washtenaw County Trial Court Tuesday, police said.

Michael Glenn pleaded guilty to assault with intent to murder, felonious assault and auto theft, said Sgt. Geoff Fox of the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office. Sentencing guidelines call for 14 to 21 years in prison, Fox wrote in an email.

Judge Donald Shelton accepted the plea deal.

Glenn was accused of beating a woman Nov. 27, 2012, after she tried to break up with him while the two were in a vehicle parked in front of his house in the 2300 block of McKinley Road in Ypsilanti Township.

Police said Glenn got in the woman’s car and punched her in the face multiple times when she told him she wanted to break up with him. She was stabbed multiple times with an unknown object and strangled until she blacked out before Glenn took her out of the car and ran her over with the vehicle, according to police.

Investigators said Glenn tried to put the woman in the trunk of the car before she convinced him she wouldn’t leave him. When Glenn walked away from the area, the woman fled to a neighbor’s home and called police. Glenn is accused of stealing the woman’s car and fled the area before deputies could arrive on scene.

Glenn was initially charged with two counts each of assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to do bodily harm less than murder and assault with a dangerous weapon. He faces a single charge each of carjacking, motor vehicle theft, unlawful imprisonment and domestic violence.

The charges he did not plead to will be dismissed at the time of sentencing, which is scheduled for July 9.

He was arrested in Detroit last January and continues to be held in the Washtenaw County Jail on a $250,000 bond.

This plea bargain to admit guilt is a good beginning to initiate the process called repentance. It involves expression of remorse for one's own actions and it is completed by experiencing the same kind and amount of grief that the actions had caused. This is a healing process to recover from damage caused when pain or grief is caused to others. People very often fail to notice the damage they inflict upon themselves while hurting others.

14 to 21 years in prison is not enough for what he did to this young woman.
