Man arrested after burglary in Ypsilanti

By Lee Higgins

A 21-year-old Detroit man was arrested Sunday morning after Ypsilanti police said he burglarized an apartment in the 700 block of Green Road.

Officers responded to the break-in about 5:30 a.m. and stopped the man, who was leaving the building, carrying a backpack, a police crime summary said.

Police found a window had been broken out at the apartment and a video game system and two iPods were stolen. Officers found the stolen items in the backpack, the summary said.

The man was arrested and taken to the Washtenaw County Jail. Charges are pending.

Anyone with information can call Det. Sgt. Troy Fulton at (734) 482-9878 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) SPEAK UP.

There is nothing like good neighbors if this is the case. Great job by the Police also!

Did a neighbor report this? Or was the tenant home at the time? If a neighbor reported it, then on behalf of the tenant I'd like to say "Thank you." In our apartments I think we could be dead in our apartment for weeks before our neighbors would notice. Being a good neighbor makes the community better, keep it up.
