Man arrested during investigation of armed robbery on Emmet Street, Ypsilanti police say

By Lee Higgins

Ypsilanti police arrested a 21-year-old Ypsilanti Township man this afternoon during their investigation into an armed robbery this morning in the 400 block of Emmet Street.

The man was arrested in the township and taken to the Washtenaw County Jail, as charges are pending, Det. Sgt. Troy Fulton said.

At about 2:05 a.m., a 21-year-old man was approached from behind by a man with a handgun who threatened him and demanded his property, police said. The victim's wallet, cell phone and ID were taken by the man who left in a white 1990s model sport utility vehicle, police said. Police say the victim was not injured.

Fulton said police have recovered some of the stolen property and the robbery remains under investigation.
