Yes failing to stop is the same as "Hit and run." The statute is Failing to stop and Identify at an accident, in this case a serious injury accident.

If only more car drivers would obey the law and slow down. Every several days we read about someone - pedestrian or bicyclist - who was mowed down by a car in this county.

The key difference you seem to miss is that bicyclists aren't operating heavy machinery. How many people do bicyclists kill every year with their bicycles?

@Eyehearta2, exactly... I actually had a close call yesterday with a cyclist who didn't stop to look before riding into the street. I see things like that happen everyday. I'm 100% for "cyclist rights" but if people in automobiles need to obey laws cyclists should too, or at least watch out for their own safety. Thankfully Ann Arbor has turned me into a VERY observant driver.

Now THAT's funny. Considering all the bike riders obey all the traffic signals and the like.....

Does "failure to stop" mean the same thing as hit and run? Or did he blow through the stop sign on Grove?

The headline obviously is saying that it was hit and run. He failed to stop after hitting the bicyclist. The article leaves it vague. I would like to know, too.
