Police: Father arrested after trying to break into home to fight man who beat up his son

By Kyle Feldscher

Ypsilanti police arrested a 50-year-old man who attempted to break into a home Tuesday after a man assaulted his son in an earlier incident.

Officers reported responding at 6 p.m. Tuesday to a home in the 300 block of Adams for a report of an assault. According to police, a man said he was assaulted by his sister’s boyfriend following a confrontation.

Police reported that a 50-year-old man arrived at the same house later and attempted to break-in and assault the man who had assaulted his son. The 50-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted home invasion, police said.

The case is still under investigation.

Don't do crime in Ypsi, YPD will get you.

Was the man that beat up the arrested man's son arrested? Hopefully the prosecutor's office will charge that man too! The guy that attempted to get at his son's attacker didn't even get to throw a punch at him! Now come on!

You mess with my family, I am not logical in my response.

I am born and bred in Ypsi. When I saw the headline, I said to myself, "I bet that happened in Ypsi". I was right! Reminds me of my old neighbors.

I don't blame the guy,he was his son what would you do?

Many, many years ago, a biker guy beat up my 12 yr old younger brother. I took my wounded brother into the local cop shop to file a complaint. The desk sgt. told me, "Look, this guy has 3 warrants out on him and we can't catch him. Why don't you take care of this yourself." -- So I did. Caught up to him in another town. After the shooting stopped, the local cops there showed up due to noise complaints. (that happens when you go into a biker gang house on a mission). I explained to these other cops what the police sgt. in my town had told me. They checked - and then told me to go back home. :-) Moral of this story: Always make sure the police authorize your get-even project before proceeding. :-)

He probably reported it to the police and they did nothing.

He was his son what would you do? Huh.

Instead of breaking into the house, why not just wait for him to come out?

Call the police maybe? Certainly not break into a house.

"Police reported that a 50-year-old man arrived at the same house later and attempted to break-in and assault the man who had assaulted his son." That's what makes the Ypsilanti Police Department so effective - they can predict the future. Maybe Chief Seto could get a PRECOG to work on the AAPD force ?.

When I was growing up the bulley knew that if they beat someone up or picked on them there was a rpice to pay. Now they beat someone up and run into their house for protection or call their lawyer. In our quest to stop bullying we have actually empowered and protected them because the consequences for retaliation are worse than what they get for attacking you.

Thu, Mar 7, 2013 : 1:42 a.m.

So there were no bullies when you were growing up because of the magic of retaliation? And even though there were no bullies, the bullies never retaliated to the retaliation?

People should know, especially if you watch sports, the one who retaliates usually gets caught.
