Ypsilanti Township resident says intruder pointed a gun at him after breaking into neighbor's shed
An Ypsilanti Township resident who confronted a stranger in his neighbor's shed said the man pulled a gun on him Thursday morning.
The incident occurred in the 1000 block of East Forest Avenue about 11:06 a.m.
Police say a man broke into a shed and was attempting to steal some of its contents when a neighbor approached him. The intruder then dropped some of the stolen property he was holding and pulled out a bronze handgun, which he pointed at the neighbor, sheriff's deputies said. The would-be thief then left the area without taking any of the property.
The man was described as black, in his mid-20s, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall and about 140 to 160 pounds. He was wearing a black down jacket, black pants and black tennis shoes.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's tip line at 734-973-7711.

I understand there was a suspicious incident in the Fairway Trails subdivision in Ypsi township around 2 PM today.A similar suspect matching this suspect's description was reported being carried out on a stretcher on Roanoke Street

911 is a good idea on paper but not when you wait for 45 minutes to an hour for the police to show up. Then the would be robber is gone and to deputies job is already done.

This neighbor put himself in a dangerous position. It's great to watch a neighbor's property, but why not call 911, or at least carry your own gun when going up to a stranger.
