Investigators responded at 10:40 a.m. Sunday to the 600 block of Pearl Street. A woman reported the father of her child took a check out of her purse while he was visiting. The check was worth $300, according to police.

The man fled the area immediately, but officers arrested him later after a foot chase, police said.

The man, who is yet to be arraigned on criminal charges, is lodged at the Washtenaw County Jail. He was arrested on suspicion of larceny from a building; violating a personal protection order; attempted breaking and entering; assaulting, resisting or obstructing a police officer and four bench warrants, according to police.

He'll get a slap on the wrist and not have to pay back the money. I have a friend that the same thing happened to and her baby daddy got probation and has yet to pay back the money.
