For the third year in a row, the YMCA is bringing Healthy Kids Day to Ypsilanti. On Saturday, May 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the YMCA will celebrate Healthy Kids Day at Recreation Park, 1015 Congress Street in Ypsilanti. This annual event uses free, fun, and creative activities to encourage children and families to adopt behaviors that support a healthy lifestyle.

YMCA Healthy Kids Day activities for kids and grown-ups will include:

• Bring your bike for safety check/tune-ups/low-cost bike helmets • Learn how to plant a vegetable garden with Growing Hope • Obstacle course and fun run • Ypsilanti Public Library Book Navigator 10:00-10:45 a.m.

This year, the YMCA will also be offering a free baseball competition for kids ages 7-14. Participants get to try out their pitching, hitting and running skills and earn an overall score for their performance on each. Registration for this event is at 10:00 a.m., and competition starts at 10:30 a.m.

From 12:00 -1:00 p.m., the YMCA will also offer a free basketball skills clinic for kids ages 6-14. Special guests are Pistons announcers Greg Kelser and George Blaha. No registration is required.
