Road race will mean Sunday road closures in Superior, Ypsilanti townships
New Balance Girls on the Run Race will mean road closures in Superior and Ypsilanti Townships on Sunday.
The 5K run is the culmination of a 10-week season for girls between the ages of 8-14 years. They celebrate their "girl power" by running, walking or skipping 3.1 miles with their coaches, families, friends, teachers and community members.
The temporary closures for the special event were recently given unanimous approval by the Washtenaw County Road Commission.
Portions of Hewitt Drive, Clark Road and Huron River Drive will be closed from 9:45 to 11:45 a.m. for the race.
The closures will take place on:
- Hewitt Road from Washtenaw Avenue to Clark Road
- Clark Road from Golfside Road to Hewitt Road
- Huron River Drive from Hewitt Road to the Ypsilanti city limits.

After contacting the race sponsor, turns out that the reporter was wrong about what roads were to be closed.
