Drive-by shooting in Ypsilanti Township sends 28-year-old man to hospital
A 28-year-old man who was visiting a home in Ypsilanti Township was injured in a drive-by shooting at 3 a.m. today, the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office said.
The man was standing outside a house talking to someone in the 1500 block of Harry Street about 3 a.m. when a car drove by and someone in it fired numerous shots at the house, sheriff's department spokesman Derrick Jackson said.
The man was shot once in the leg, Jackson said. Huron Valley Ambulance emergency medical technicians took him to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect fled in an unknown direction, according to an alert sent out over the Nixle messaging system, 10 and a half hours after the shooting. No description was available, but the alert said early indications are that the shooting was not random.
Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or the sheriff’s department at (734) 973-7711 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak-UP.

Same neighborhood where the convenience store had the drive-by a couple weeks ago. The community needs to drive these criminals out before this neighborhood becomes the next Liberty Square.

This may have been a "wrong time, wrong place" situation. But I feel bad for whoever shot him!

When a gunman sets out to shoot someone/something TIME doesn't matter. Although my choice would be 3 p.m. not 3 a.m. even at my own home. Glad to hear the victim was taken to the hospital with (non-life threatening injuries) it could have been so much worse. Makes me wonder if the gun was one of the many stolen recently. No description of the suspect, will make it difficult to crack this case.
